Lexington, Ky. – Please see the next assertion from PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo relating to the Kentucky Horse Racing Fee’s resolution to uphold the 30-day suspension of Thoroughbred horse coach Steve Asmussen following two drug violations in 2018:

Kudos to the Kentucky Horse Racing Fee for letting stand coach Steve Asmussen’s suspension for drug positives, however now it must ban him from racing, as he has racked up dozens of drug violations—and the slap on the wrist he will get every time is a betrayal of the horses. PETA’s 2013 undercover investigation into Asmussen’s barn revealed the each day use of medicines like hormones, sedatives, and painkillers—and the dire penalties for the horses. The racing trade should cease honoring its worst gamers and do proper by the animals it makes use of.

PETA—whose motto reads, partially, that “animals aren’t ours to make use of for leisure or abuse in some other method”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For extra data, please go to PETA.org or comply with the group on Twitter, Fb, or Instagram.
